Seattle

Seattle, wonderful coastal seaport city in the state of Washington, USA, is a fun, interesting, cultural rewarding destination. With an estimated 652,405 residents as of 2013, Seattle is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest region.

Downtown streets boil with activity at all times, with many cafes, restaurants, amazing libraries, sidewalk performers, business people up and down modern skyscrapers, residents checking the offerings of the local commerce.

Among many places we visited, including the Paramount Theater, where we were marveled by the performance of Sting and his band during his very last concert in the USA, and the amazing Space Needle, we spent an afternoon at the Public Market Center, best known as the Pike Place Market, a staple of the Seattle scene and one of the “most popular tourist destinations” (Wikipedia →).

Pike Place runs northwest from Pike Street to Virginia Street, part of the city downtown. Founded in 1907, the Pike Place Market historic district occupies nine acres overlooking Elliott Bay, a majestic body of water full of ships activity.

Elephant Garlic

Yes, those garlics above are the size of my face. You can find fresh produce, locally sourced, as well as artisan goods and curiosities, specialty foods.

Leonarte Artists and craftspeople exhibit and sale their art pieces. More than 200 small business give you a unique visiting experience. Among many we spoke with, we met Leonardo, an Italian artist with whom I bartered a beautiful ceramic piece for a portrait. I love to trade! You can find him at his Facebook page.

I remember this day. You did a great job documenting the atmosphere of Pike’s market! Very cool that artist traded one of his great tiles for some portraits!

How could I forget? That was fun, interesting, adventurous. You made it that way. Will always remember it.
